Attendance Statistics

At John Ferneley College, we value good student attendance and feel that this is an important aspect of educational achievement because it provides consistency and gives each student a more ‘complete’ experience.

In fact, student attendance at John Ferneley College is well above the national average and unauthorised absences fall well below the national average.

Parents are asked to inform the college at the earliest opportunity (by 9.30am at the latest on the day of absence) by phone, email or by letter if their child is unable to attend college due to illness, a medical or dental appointment, or participation in a day set aside for religious observation, for example.

We take unauthorised absences seriously – this is where there has been no parental explanation for an absence.

Parents of students with unauthorised absences will be contacted by the college and the situation may be referred to the college’s educational welfare officer.
