Careers Advice
Part of each young person’s experience as an emerging adult is to try out new skills and opportunities and gradually navigate the potential direction of their future career.
On a daily basis, students are encouraged to explore their strengths and weaknesses and to develop self-confidence in their abilities. This is supported by a strong careers guidance and advice programme.
The college library (known as the ‘bookshop’) has a well-equipped careers section, and an induction to the careers library takes place at the beginning of Year 9 as students are beginning to think about their GCSE subject choices. At this time, students will become familiar with using the Job Education ICT database.
Many careers activities take place during the college year and include careers exhibitions, vocationally orientated taster courses at local Further Education colleges and visits by representatives from local industry.
The college has particularly good links with
Connexions, an organisation that provides information and advice, including careers guidance, for 13 to 19-year-olds.
