Curriculum Overview
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 spend five hours a week in each learning zone. Discovery, Enterprise, and Performance are timetabled as whole day blocks, whilst Communication and Culture are timetabled in half day blocks. In Year 10 and above, students may participate in half or full day sessions depending on their subject choices.
In Year 7, all students study Art, Business Studies, Dance, Drama, English, one Modern Language (Spanish or French), Food Technology, Electronics, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Information Technology, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, History, Geography, Religious Education, Science and Personal Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE). Each student can begin a second Modern Language in Year 9.
At GCSE, the compulsory subjects are English, English Literature, Mathematics and Double Science. Options are chosen in the Spring Term of Year 9. Students then choose further options from a wide range of subjects to suit their interests. More details can be found in our GCSE Option Booklet.
