“I like the new computers because they are much faster. I also like the fact that you can now do homework in your tutor breakout zone at lunchtime.”

Learning Zones

Student learning at John Ferneley College takes place in five self-contained learning zones – Communication, Culture, Discovery, Enterprise and Performance - each of which supports subjects that share common ground.

Each learning zone benefits from a dedicated library area, subject-specific resources, interactive whiteboard technology in all classrooms and a central breakout space with state-of-the-art ICT and learning facilities. There are large plasma screens in each zone to display student work and to use as a message board.

Every learning zone is managed by a Zone Director and supported by an experienced academic team.  In addition to subject-specific learning, students are able to engage in relevant cross-curricular themed activities within each learning zone.

Click on each of the Zone tabs above to learn more about what goes on in each area of the curriculum.
