Communication Zone
English and Mathematics are central to learning at John Ferneley College. All students study these subjects throughout their five years here in our well-resourced, spacious specialist area.
During the course of their English lessons, students follow a balanced and varied curriculum which develops their confidence and competence in reading, writing, speaking and listening. They work individually and in groups to nurture self-confidence and enjoyment of the written and spoken word, using a wide range of resources. Each year, scenes from Shakespeare plays are performed by groups of students at the Curve Theatre in Leicester.
Mathematics is a stimulating and exciting subject, where students are encouraged to increase their confidence in the subject through investigative work, information and communication technology, oral and mental work.
