Our College

“I love the street that runs from one end of the college to the other and the clever design of the building means there’s less bullying too”

Our New Building

The impressive new John Ferneley College building, opened in April 2010, provides a modern, inspirational learning environment.

With its wide, sunlit ‘street’ that runs the entire length of the building, the student ‘bookshop’, a large and welcoming restaurant, outdoor classrooms and the five self-contained learning zones, the very structure of the building underlines our commitment to provide each student with a secure environment that supports their experience as an emerging adult.

The building is environmentally friendly and carbon conscious, boasting impressive ‘green’ credentials. The wind turbine that stands in the college grounds provides 20% of our energy requirements and feeds electricity back into the national grid out of college hours.

In March 2012, a £5m Enrichment Centre will be completed, extending even further the educational opportunities offered within the five learning zones.
