There are food choices to suit most tastes, including a number of healthy options and vegetarian meals. If your child has a food allergy, please let the college know so that we can cater for them accordingly.
Students at John Ferneley College use a smart card to gain entrance to the college building, spend their printer credits and pay for food and drink in the restaurant. Each child is allocated with an electronic account and is able to put money on to their smart card via one of the loading machines in college. In the event of a card being lost, a student’s account can be frozen immediately and the money transferred to a new card.
The amount of money each student needs on their card is really down to their parents’ discretion and depends on whether they choose to eat a meal at college or whether they bring in a packed lunch and use the restaurant to buy additional snacks and drinks. In a typical week, a student having a main meal (which includes a pudding) every day will need about £12.50.
