UK Junior Mathematical Challenge


On Thursday 30 th April, pupils from five mathematics groups in year 7 and year
8 sat a national challenge paper consisting of 25 multiple choice mathematical
problems. Apparently there were over 240,000 entries across the country from
pupils in years 8 and below.


All the pupils in 7EX, 8J1 and 8F1 took part plus a selection of pupils from 7J1
and 7F1.


Certificates were awarded for pupils who scored highly on the challenge. The
following pupils achieved awards:


Bronze:
Josh Haywood, James Parker, Dominic Henson, Anna BarnardWright,
Callum South, Beth Fry, Joe Anderson, Gemma Hill, Callum Smith, Ryan Caunt, Chloe Rowlatt, Charlea Harrison, Alex Lynott, Will McGuigan, Vikki Spencer, Talon
Pouliot, Brooke Hatton, Ollie Heaney, Joe Postle, Ellis Kearney and George Boddy.


Silver:
Lily Brewster, Olivia Bailey, Riley Schofield, Jordan Forrester, Madeleine Dale,
Aaron Chapman, Max Toon, Dan Wells, Katherine Lovegrove, Michael La Barbera, Bethany Warner, Josh Wilson and Juliet Boardman.


Gold:
Ben Sayers, Harry Brown, Jared Durrance, Jenny Allen, Matthew Fardell and
Sophie Marshall.


Special mention must go to Sophie Marshall who is only in Year 7 and achieved
a gold award.


Well done to Matthew Fardell who repeated his feat from last year and gained
the “Best in School” award.
