Soon after students arrive at the college they are assessed and this information, along with Key Stage 2 test results and additional data provided by the primary schools, informs the process of grouping students. Students are placed in ability sets for English, mathematics, science and modern languages.
Students are placed in sets from the beginning of Year 7. Their place in a set is constantly under review and movement between sets takes place following an assessment of student progress. Parents will be informed of a decision to move set.
The setting of students is just one way in which the college tailors the learning experience to meet the needs of individual students.
