Dear Parents
At the end of yet another highly successful academic year, staff and students are ready for a well deserved summer break. During the holidays, fingers crossed, I anticipate the granting of planning permission for the new school. Work will commence in September and will be completed well before we move into the building in September 2010. This timescale is guaranteed because we have been given the £15 million for the new building. Design work on the Post 16 building is also well on course. The money for this Post 16 building is also guaranteed and it will open to students in September 2011.
My thanks to Year 9 for their contribution to school life over the past year, they have been outstanding. It is a shame that their Key Stage 3 SATs results have been delayed because of “bureaucratic failings” (see national press), however, I expect that their results will also be outstanding.
Thank you to those parents who recently completed the parents’ survey. The company that processes the survey will send us a report in late August and I will communicate its findings to you early next term.
John Ferneley has never been as strong as it is today. The future of the school is extremely bright and I am enormously proud of the staff, students and parents that make up our community.
Have a really good summer holiday and I look forward to seeing you in the new term.
