john ferneley high school

At John Ferneley we believe that a uniform serves several important functions:

  • It is an expression of community spirit.

  • It helps to develop pride in the school.

  • It is a practical and relatively inexpensive way of clothing a child for school.

For health and safety reasons and because the loss of valuable belongings can be distressing we do not allow jewellery to be worn at school.

WHAT SHALL I WEAR?

  • A school sweatshirt (red with embroidered John Ferneley High School Motif – purchased from Kidszone in Melton).

  • A plain white shirt or white blouse.

  • Black or charcoal grey trousers or skirt.

  • Sensible shoes, not trainers.

  • Jeans are not acceptable and jewellery should not be worn. If you have pierced ears you are permitted to wear either studs or sleepers, but they are to be removed for P.E.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR P.E.?

Girls should wear - for indoors: a red John Ferneley polo shirt - black cycling shorts or shorts - indoor trainers. For outdoors: the same kit as above if it is warm with outdoor trainers - or as the weather gets colder a black John Ferneley sweatshirt and black tracksuit bottoms. It is advisable when on the field to wear football boots or very old trainers as it does get slippery and muddy.

Boys should wear - for indoors: a red John Ferneley polo shirt - black shorts - indoor trainers. For outdoors: a black John Ferneley sweatshirt, black tracksuit bottoms and football boots or old trainers.

Pupils are encouraged to bring a plastic bag to put muddy trainers and kit in to take home. The red John Ferneley polo shirt and black John Ferneley sweatshirt are available from Kidszone, Melton.
