SCIENCE REVISION – Key Stage 3 SATs Tests
As you know the SATs are taking place in early May. In an effort to support each child we have provided some ‘hints and tips’ on revision techniques and some resources for both you as parents and your child.
You should have already received a letter about the ‘Easter resources’ which are available to keep science ticking over throughout the holiday. We ask that you and your chld take just 10 minutes out of your day to consider the tasks in the booklet. Should the booklet ‘disappear’ a copy of each task is available by following the link below.
Science Revision 10 minutes a day Levels 5-7
The tasks will be marked by other pupils on the return to school and feedback given. We feel this is an invaluable tool to boost your child’s attainment without tons of pressure.
Revision hints and tips
Your child has been receiving a homework a week of recent SATs questions to be modelled on return to the classroom. This aims to not only revise past topics but to build confidence in how to answer the questions.
Over the upcoming holidays the Easter resources are available and whole past exam papers have been available in each classroom to take home. Each teacher will happily mark these papers and give feedback.
Top Tips
Have your old books with you and/or:
1. Buy a revision guide.
2. Read it little and often. You can only concentrate fully for 30 minutes. Take a break!
3. Always be prepared, keep a workspace clear and organised. Have pens and paper ready and remember the choloclate cake!
4. Pick your technique, you could:
> make posters, big colourful and stick them in your room!
> make notes cards, keywords and reminders
> read a page of informatiion, cover it up and write down what you remember
> make a mini podcast you can listen to again and again
> work with a friend or partner to make quizzes and test
